Brief Description

The purpose of this assessment is to allow experienced candidates to demonstrate their skills, knowledge and understanding of rigging operations. Assessments of the delegate’s performance will be against the stated OPITO standard outcomes.

Knowledge of relevant legislation

Safe systems of work

The planning of lifting operations

Risk assessment and control measures

Equipment pre and post inspection

Safe and correct use of equipment

Equipment identification and selection

Rigging principles and terminology

Weight identification and estimation

Cross haul / transfer loads

Change lifting equipment during lift

Move loads in a confined space or with restriced access

ONSHORE TRAINING COURSES - OPITO APPROVED RIGGER ASSESSMENT

Location and Duration

The duration of this assessment is two days. The assessment is a combination of both theory and practical content. This course can only be delivered at Onsite Training Services centre in Dyce, Aberdeen.

Pre-requisites

Delegates should be able to demonstrate at least two years experience of working on rigging tasks on a full time basis. A written testimony is required from current/previous employer.
